The Colonel John Siegfried Elementary School, Northampton, was presented a plaque Friday by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Eastern Pennsylvania/Lehigh Valley Branch, for its outstanding "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser. Students at the school raised more than $6,500, the second highest of 700 schools which participated in the project the past school year. Pamela Formica, campaign manager for the Lehigh Valley-based society, center, presents a plaque noting the distinction to teacher and student council advisor Gary Pierzga, right. Assistant Principal Maria Pulli, left, represented Siegfried School at the ceremony.
