Parkland grad charged with homicide
A 2007 Parkland High School graduate has been charged with homicide for the death of his half-brother.
Cory J. Maletsky, 23, of 1521 N. Leh St., South Whitehall Township, was arrested Sept. 15 after allegedly stabbing Christopher Scot Lloyd II, 31, of 2214 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall Township.
According to the affidavit of probable cause obtained from District Judge Jake Hammond's office, South Whitehall Police Officer Mark J. Keeler was dispatched at 3:36 a.m. for a disturbance at the Walbert Avenue address.
Keeler stated in the affidavit officers saw Lloyd, bleeding from injuries to his abdomen, lying on the kitchen floor of his stepfather Joel W. and mother Lucille Maletsky's home, where he lived.
Emergency medical personnel attempted to provide lifesaving care to Lloyd, who sustained three apparent sharp force injuries to his torso, Keeler stated.
Maletsky allegedly told police he and Lloyd became involved in a physical altercation during which Lloyd allegedly punched him in the face four to five times, pinned him against a counter and put his hands around his throat.
"At that point, I felt I was in danger of serious bodily injury," Maletsky is quoted as saying. "I pulled a knife [from the sheath in his boot] and Chris [Lloyd] sustained two wounds to the stomach area."
According to a South Whitehall police press release, Lloyd, Maletsky, Joshua M. Eisenhauer, 30, and another individual identified as "W.C." were at Eisenhauer's home at the Leh Street address watching television and drinking alcoholic beverages around a fire pit, when one altercation began between Lloyd and Eisenhauer and then another between Lloyd and Maletsky.
During the course of that altercation, Maletsky pulled the knife from his boot and allegedly stabbed Lloyd several times in his torso.
Maletsky was arraigned Saturday before District Judge David Harding, Coopersburg, police say.
Maletsky, who was a recipient of the 2011 President's Freshman award at Penn State Lehigh Valley's 25th annual Honors Convocation on April 27, 2011, was committed to Lehigh County Prison to await a preliminary hearing.
Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Lloyd died from stab wounds to his body.
He was pronounced dead at 4:22 p.m. Sept. 15 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, said Grim, who ruled Lloyd's death a homicide.
Lehigh County Chief Deputy Coroner Paul F. Hoffman said Lloyd was stabbed at approximately 3:30 a.m. at the N. Leh Street address.
He told The Press on Monday, he does not know how Lloyd ended up on the kitchen floor of his home.
