DUI
Franklin Collado-Duran, 31, of Bronx, N.Y., was arrested for DUI on Interstate 78 at State Route 222 north, Lower Macungie Township, 3:59 a.m. Aug. 12. Collado-Duran was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol when troopers stopped to assist him. Collado-Duran's BMW 325i was pulled over on the shoulder of the I-78 ramp.
Jeremy Melendez, 20, of Macungie, was arrested for DUI on Princeton Road at Brookside Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:17 a.m. Aug. 25. Melendez was stopped for an equipment violation and was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Lloyd Irons, 19, of Allentown, was arrested for DUI on Interstate 78 at exit 60, Upper Saucon Township, 1:20 a.m. Aug. 27. Irons was stopped for multiple traffic violations and was allegedly found to be under the influence of marijuana.
Aerial enforcement and reconnaissance
The Pennsylvania State police issued 11 speeding citations during their speed enforcement patrol utilizing a fixed wing aircraft over Interstate 78, Salisbury Township. The vehicle with the highest speed was clocked at 102 miles per hour. Pennsylvania State Police will continue with periodic patrols with S.P.A.R.E. on Interstate 78 in an effort to target aggressive drivers and reduce crashes.
Hit and run crash
An unknown perpetrator hit a parked vehicle in the 500 block of John Street, Upper Milford Township, between 2:30 a.m. Aug. 25 and 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26. The victim noticed the driver's side rear end of the vehicle was struck while parked in the driveway.
Criminal mischief
An unknown perpetrator threw eggs at a residence in the 7000 block of Hearth Lane, Lower Macungie Township, 11:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
Scattering rubbish
An unknown perpetrator left a plastic water bottle filled with an unknown liquid on the front step of a home in the 1900 block of Pembrooke Drive, Lower Macungie Township, between 12:01 a.m. Aug. 20 and 1 p.m. Aug. 21.
Retail theft
Andrew Hanna, of Bethlehem, was charged with retail theft at Giant Supermarket, 7150 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, 4:44 p.m. July 26. Hanna allegedly attempted to steal Gillette Fusion razor blades from the store.
A 26-year-old black male stole $29.88 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 12:07 p.m. July 29. The suspect pushed a store employee forcefully into the exit door before fleeing the scene.
An unknown perpetrator attempted to steal merchandise from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 2:15 p.m. July 29. The male found out he was being followed by loss prevention personnel and left the merchandise behind before he fled the scene in a red minivan.
An unknown perpetrator stole a television set valued at $262.88 from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 11:30 p.m. Aug. 9. The person fled the scene and left the television in the parking lot.
Thomas Kaiser, 24, of Bechtelsville, was charged with retail theft at Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 5 p.m. Aug. 10. Kaiser allegedly failed to pay full price for $1,082.38 worth of merchandise. Kaiser also had an active bench warrant out of Montgomery County and was transported to Lehigh County Prison.
Ryan Spangenberg, 21, of Mertztown, Brian Zejac, 18, of Mertztown, and John Emrich, 18, of Wescosville, were charged with retail theft at Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 4:36 a.m. Aug. 11. The group was allegedly found with items stolen from the store.
Chloe Williams, 20, of Allentown, was charged with retail theft at Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 2:57 p.m. Aug. 12. Williams allegedly attempted to steal $80.20 worth of merchandise by concealing it in her purse.
Jordan Swavely, 18, of Kutztown, was charged with retail theft at Walmart 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 6:30 p.m. Aug. 16. Swavely allegedly attempted to steal Mogul headphones by removing them from the packaging and attempting to conceal the item in a backpack. Swavely allegedly dropped the backpack and attempted to run toward Hamilton Boulevard when questioned by loss prevention staff.
Jessica Keet, of Allentown, was charged with retail theft at Kohl's Department Store, 6900 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, Aug. 17. Keet allegedly stole $69.79 worth of merchandise.
An unknown black male stole two bottles of liquor from Wine and Spirits, 6900 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, 12:11 p.m. Aug. 21. The male placed both bottles up his shirt and fled the scene in a black coupe.
Joan Reyes, 58, of Macungie, was charged with retail theft at Game Stop, 1042 Mill Creek Road Suite 33, Lower Macungie Township, 6:45 p.m. Aug. 24. Reyes allegedly attempted to conceal a Wii Game Wheel and an empty Mario Kart game box in her purse. The total value of the items was $4.99.
Pauline Rivera, 21, of New York, N.Y., was cited for retail theft at Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 3:03 p.m. Aug. 26. Rivera allegedly attempted to steal $25.01 worth of merchandise.
Theft
An unknown perpetrator stole approximately 30 DVDs from Wescosville Elementary School, 1064 Liberty Lane, Lower Macungie Township, between noon and 2:20 p.m. June 12 through July 31. The DVD movies were returned and a suspect has been developed.
An unknown perpetrator disassembled three commercial air conditioning units and stole the cooling coils with a total value of $16,000 at 8007 Quarry Road, Lower Macungie Township, between June 25 and Aug. 20.
An unknown perpetrator stole several pieces of jewelry from a bedroom of a residence on Miller Drive, Upper Milford Township, between 1:30 and 5 p.m. Aug. 3. The victim was out of town at the time of the incident.
An unknown perpetrator called a Lower Macungie resident and told her she won $2.5 million and could have $85,000 if she sent $5,000 through a MoneyPak Card at Walmart Aug. 6. The victim was able to stop payment when she realized it was a scam. Police are advising residents to beware of calls from area codes 876, 809 and 284 claiming someone has won a lot of money as it is a scam.
A victim left her purse at New Wave Car Wash, 3156 Route 100, Lower Macungie Township, Aug. 8. The person who pulled in the stall behind her allegedly took the bag and the belongings inside. The perpetrator was described as a white female in her early 30s driving a gray 4-door-vehicle, possibly a Hyundai, with no hubcaps and a sticker above the exhaust. She was allegedly wearing a green tank top with white pants.
Armondo Aybar Jr. was charged with theft in the 7000 block of Mckee Court, Lower Macungie Township, Aug. 11. Aybar allegedly stole a pink Motorola cell phone from a yard sale before attempting to sell it on Craigslist. Police met Aybar as a buyer for the phone and recovered the item before charging him.
