Golden Age Card available for seniors
East Penn School District residents age 65 and older may apply for the Golden Age Card. This complimentary pass entitles the holder to free admission to all plays, concerts, track usage, home sports events and other special events sponsored by the school district including a Thanksgiving luncheon.
For those interested in the community education program, one free class up to a value of $50 is offered each semester. This lifetime card may be picked up at the administration office, 800 Pine St., Emmaus or by calling 610-966-8301.
The Alburtis Park is open noon to 8 p.m. on weekends for your enjoyment. There is an admission charge. Games, bingo and delicious foods are available with live music from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 25, Midnight Special; Aug. 26, Jesse Wade; Sept. 1, Country Jade; Sept. 2, Moore Brothers; Sept. 3, Outlaws & Crazy Elmer; Sept. 8, One Night Stand, Antique Tractor Show; Sept. 9, New Country Rhythm Band, Antique Tractor Show; Sept. 15, Bill Murray with Elvis Oldies; Sept. 16, Scott Marshall Band. The park is located at 328 South Main Street, Alburtis, next to the fire company. Parking is free. The park will be open through October this year.
The Ancient Oak Women's Organization meets at St. Paul's UCC, Trexlertown, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5. Ladies in the Ancient Oak development are invited to attend the meeting, meet their neighbors and enjoy an ice cream social. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month.
The Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizens Club meets noon the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center, 3400 Brookside Road, Macungie. Games are played after both meetings with entertainment after the games.
